Workshop Philosophy:
The key aim of our workshop is community building: we all know what incredible potential concurrent TMS-fMRI holds, and we also know how challenging it is in practice. What we want to do is grow connections within the community so that there are more opportunities for sharing solutions, and to lower the bar for others to join us so that the field grows. To that end, our philosophy is rooted in supportive discussion and shared problem solving. We want to hear about exciting advances, but also about the challenges, the unsolved parts of the equation, the limitations on our inference - so that we can face these challenges together! With that in mind, we prefer honest open “warts and all” presentations. Feel free to include new data, preliminary analyses, unsolved questions, and things you aren’t quite sure about yet.
Programme
We are delighted to share with you the final version of our programme on the website here. Please note whether you are giving a keynote, long talk or short talk.
We have deliberately included lots of time for discussion, and informal time to connect (pool-side or otherwise!). You’ll also spot a ‘flexitime’ slot - this is time saved for anything that emerges over the course of the workshop. It could be discussion of what’s changed since we wrote our community consensus, vigorous debate over control conditions, brain storming practical solutions, speed dating, interpretive dance - tbc! Please keep your ears open for topical issues or ideas that we can use this time for.
Talk timings:
Keynotes and Long talks = 40 mins + 10 mins Q&A
Short talks = 10 mins + 10 mins Q&A
Hotel transfers:
We will arrange up to two shuttle buses, departing from Cancun International to the ferry terminal (30 mins trip duration) on Sunday afternoon and evening. ACTION POINT: If you would like to join these, please sign up here. We will assess demand and commission the buses accordingly.
From the ferry terminal, the ferry to Islas Mujeres departs on the hour until 11pm. Tickets ($32.22USD return) can be purchased here: https://www.ultramarferry.com/ (Select Cancun Puerto Juarez as departure point, and tickets can be open-ended.)
Once on Isla Mujeres, it's a ~10min taxi to the hotel - we are told that taxis are available at the ferry terminal and will cost approximately 150-200 pesos (about $10USD).
Hotel check in/out:
Hotel check-in is from 3pm on 14th (unless you have requested an earlier date), and check-out is 12pm on Thurs 18th. Accommodation is all-inclusive (i.e., all meals, basic drinks). Any special hotel requests, please let us know ASAP, or contact the hotel directly: https://www.izlahotel.com/
Slack:
Please engage with the Slack workspace for the TMS-fMRI community (contact one of the organisers to join if you haven't already done so). In particular, join the #workshop channel to get updates from the organisers and connect with other people at the workshop. You might even like to use it to make joint travel arrangements.
